VA Work Study Allowance

ܽƵapp

If you are seeking a college or vocational degree in a professional program, you can “earn while you learn” with a VA work-study allowance. Veteran students and their families can earn an hourly wage equal to the federal minimum wage or your state minimum wage, whichever is greater, by working on one of the ܽƵapp Community College campuses. In order to be eligible, students must be full-time or 3/4-time and be receiving benefits under the:

  • Post-9/11 GI Bill® (38 U.S.C. Chapter 33) (Veterans and transfer-of-entitlement recipients)
  • Montgomery GI Bill®-Active Duty (38 U.S.C. Chapter 30)
  • Montgomery GI Bill®-Selected Reserve (10 U.S.C. Chapter 1606)
  • Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (38 U.S.C. Chapter 35)
  • Eligible dependents under 38 U.S.C. Chapter 35 may use work study only while training in a State
  • National Call to Service Participants
  • Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Program (38 U.S.C. Chapter 31)

The number of applicants selected for VA work-study will depend on the availability of VA related work at ܽƵapp. All services and job duties performed under the VA work-study program must be related to VA work. The work you actually do will depend on your interests and the type of work available. To find out more about the VA work-study program, contact Stephen Dietz at 402-437-2862.

Program Cost of Attendance

Eligible Service members must be receive approval from an Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within the Military Service prior to enrolling.

Return of Tuition Assistance: Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend the school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of TA funds originally approved. To comply with the Department of Defense (DOD) policy ܽƵapp Community College will return any unearned funds on a prorated basis through at least 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided. TA funds are earned proportionally during an enrollment period with unearned funds returned based upon when a student stops attending.

This policy applies to all students receiving Military Tuition Assistance (TA) for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

Institution’s Schedule for Return of Unearned TA:
