Polysomnographic Technology
Program Description
Open your eyes to a career with a bright future in the polysomnographic technology field. Our Polysomnographic Technology program will make you an expert at the process of gathering and interpreting data to help with the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. In order to be admitted into the program, you must have an associate degree in a health-related program of study or complete the program pre-requisite courses.
Our part-time program consists of 6 credit hours per term and is offered online, with 135 hours of clinical rotations completed at an approved sleep disorders center. You will complete a comprehensive program in patient assessment, equipment calibration, data acquisition, diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic modalities and follow-up care. Once you graduate from the program, you will be eligible to take the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist exam offered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists in order to earn the RPSGT credential.

You will succeed as a polysomnographic technologist if you are a detail oriented and strong communicator who is comfortable working nights by yourself or with a small group of people.

State Licensure or Certification Requirements
This program’s curriculum is acceptable in all states. Some states do not require licensing for Sleep Technologists, but may have exemptions for Sleep Technologists to practice under the Respiratory Care act for their state. Those states which do have licensing requirements for Sleep Technologists primarily require the RPSGT credential, or a combination of the RPSGT credential, proof of graduating from a CAAHEP program, and having an Associate’s degree or higher. ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp’s program is a CAAHEP program.
