Program Description
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program will prepare students for entry-level practice as a nurse. Upon successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science in Associate Degree Nursing, the graduate will be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). After successful completion of this exam, the graduate will be a registered nurse and can work in a variety of healthcare settings including, hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, rehabilitation centers, clinics, long-term care, home health care, and other areas.
The LPN to RN program option helps qualified students gain the additional skills and knowledge to sit for the NCLEX-RN® certification exam and advance from LPN to RN.

Your career outlook is bright as employment of registered nurses is expected to grow 15 percent between 2016-2026. Nursing positions are readily available in diverse communities across Nebraska and the United States. Most graduates are hired into an acute care specialty at hospitals, clinics, offices and long-term care facilities. Career options include work in a variety of healthcare settings including, hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, rehabilitation centers, physicians’ offices and urgent care clinics, long-term care and home health care agencies and many other facilities that require the expertise of a Registered Nurse.
You will be a successful nurse if you are compassionate with a desire to help people as well as a critical thinker who likes working on a team.

State Licensure or Certification Requirements
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-RN exam. Nebraska belongs to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) compact. Any student passing the NCLEX-RN exam in Nebraska also may practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in any of the other compact States without reapplying for a license in that state, provided they meet the qualifications for holding a multi-state license.
Member states of the compact are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
States and U.S. territories that do not belong to the compact, have pending legislation regarding NCSBN, or have partially implemented NCSBN standards are: Alaska, American Samoa, California, Connecticut, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virgin Islands, Washington D.C.
